Data Manager

A highly regarded Independent School in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham is looking for an experienced and detail-focused Data Manager to join its administrative and operations team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a key role within the school, supporting senior leaders and teaching teams by ensuring that student information is accurate, secure and readily available. The successful candidate will take ownership of the school's management information systems and play an important part in assessment, attendance, reporting and wider school improvement.

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the school's pupil data systems, ensuring records are accurate and updated promptly. You will work closely with senior leaders, Heads of Department, pastoral teams and administrative colleagues to collect, process and present information in a clear and useful format.

The role will involve supporting assessment cycles, producing reports on attainment and progress, monitoring attendance information and preparing data for leadership meetings. You will need to be confident working with large amounts of information and able to identify inconsistencies before they affect reporting.

You will also support the administration of admissions, student transfers and leavers, ensuring records are maintained correctly throughout the student lifecycle. Where required, you will assist with statutory data returns and provide information for school reporting requirements.

Strong Excel skills will be important, as you may be required to manipulate data, create reports and identify trends. Experience with a school MIS such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom would be advantageous.

Data Manager - Responsibilities

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the school's student data systems

  • Maintain accurate and secure pupil records

  • Manage the school's MIS

  • Process admissions, transfers and student leavers

  • Support assessment and reporting cycles

  • Produce attainment and progress reports

  • Provide attendance data and analysis

  • Prepare information for senior leadership meetings

  • Support statutory data returns and school census processes

  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies

  • Maintain data quality across school systems

  • Provide guidance to staff using school databases

  • Manage confidential student information appropriately

  • Support timetable and curriculum data where required

  • Produce reports using Excel and other reporting tools

  • Assist with wider school improvement projects involving data

The role will require someone who can work independently while maintaining regular communication with senior leaders and colleagues.

Data Manager - Experience and Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous Data Manager or School Data Officer experience

  • Strong experience working with school management information systems

  • SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom experience desirable

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills

  • Strong analytical and numerical ability

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection

  • Experience producing reports and analysing information

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills

  • Ability to work accurately under pressure

  • Excellent communication skills
