A supportive and inclusive primary school in Kirkdale, Liverpool, is seeking a motivated, patient, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis with an immediate start. You will be working closely with pupils who present with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and moderate learning difficulties. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within small group interventions, depending on individual pupil needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This role requires consistency, empathy, and strong communication skills, as you will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ academic progress, emotional regulation, and social development throughout the school day.

  • Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and support staff
  • Supporting pupils during transitions, playtimes, and lunchtimes
  • Using visual supports, sensory resources, and differentiated materials
  • Monitoring progress and recording observations
  • Supporting personal care where required (training provided if needed)
  • Maintaining a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Upholding safeguarding and child protection policies at all times

  • Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting
  • Be patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient
  • Have a good understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs
  • Be confident supporting behaviour using positive strategies
  • Be flexible, reliable, and proactive
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Be available for an ASAP start
  • Be fully committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Experience with EHCPs, sensory integration techniques, or speech and language interventions is desirable but not essential.
