Role Overview

A creative and community-minded secondary school in Liverpool is seeking a passionate and practical Food Tech Teacher to join its Design & Technology department. This full-time, permanent position involves delivering hands-on Food Preparation and Nutrition lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, inspiring students to develop essential culinary skills, nutritional awareness, and food safety knowledge.

The role is open to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers looking for a welcoming, supportive environment. You will join a dedicated team with access to well-equipped specialist food rooms and technician support, creating an engaging, safe, and positive environment for practical learning.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Teaching: Plan and deliver dynamic practical and theoretical lessons covering culinary techniques, food hygiene, nutrition, and food science across KS3 and GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition.

  • Health & Safety: Maintain outstanding health, safety, and hygiene standards within the food room, conducting regular risk assessments and managing dietary requirements/allergies.

  • Student Progress: Monitor practical skill development, guide students through GCSE non-examination assessments (NEAs), and prepare pupils thoroughly for written exams.

  • Qualifications: Relevant degree in Food Technology, Home Economics, Nutrition, or Design & Technology alongside QTS or PGCE.

  • Skills: Excellent practical cookery expertise, strong kitchen management, and the ability to foster culinary creativity across all ability levels.
