The Role

The successful Science Teacher will teach across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to contribute to KS5 depending on experience and departmental requirements. You will deliver engaging lessons that combine scientific theory with practical investigation, encouraging students to ask questions, analyse evidence, and develop their problem-solving skills.

Applications are welcomed from teachers with a specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. The department is committed to providing students with a broad and engaging Science curriculum and encourages participation in STEM activities and wider enrichment.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues to plan lessons, assess progress, and support students in achieving strong academic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5 where appropriate

  • Plan and deliver engaging theoretical and practical lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and relevant post-16 examinations

  • Develop students' scientific knowledge and practical investigation skills

  • Assess student progress and provide high-quality feedback

  • Maintain excellent standards of classroom management

  • Ensure practical activities are delivered safely and effectively

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support STEM enrichment, clubs, competitions, and educational activities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

  • Excellent classroom management skills

  • Strong communication and organisational abilities

  • Commitment to practical and investigative Science

Desirable

  • Ability to teach a Science specialism at KS5

  • Experience delivering GCSE or A-Level Science

  • Experience supporting STEM enrichment activities

  • Strong practical laboratory knowledge

  • A passion for inspiring students through scientific education
