The department fosters a “literary-discourse” atmosphere, encouraging students to engage in high-level critique of texts ranging from the Shakespearean canon to contemporary post-colonial literature.
-
As an “Outstanding” setting, we prioritise a knowledge-rich curriculum that focuses on the etymology of language, the evolution of narrative form, and the socio-political contexts of great works.
-
We maintain active links with the University of Lincoln and local heritage sites, providing students with opportunities for creative writing workshops and theatrical experiences that extend beyond the classroom.

-
Data-Driven Progress: Utilising the academy’s robust assessment framework to provide granular feedback, ensuring students are equipped to meet the high-level demands of GCSE and A-Level specifications.
-
Cultural Leadership: Coordinating extra-curricular initiatives, such as debating societies, school magazines, or theatre trips, to promote a vibrant reading culture across the academy.
