Physics Teaching Role in an Independent School

An independent school in Leicester is seeking to appoint an inspiring and knowledgeable Physics Teacher to join its successful Science department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and academically ambitious school that values intellectual curiosity, scientific enquiry, and exceptional teaching.

Physics is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop strong analytical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and investigative skills through engaging theoretical and practical learning.

About the Role

You will teach Physics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that challenge and inspire students.

Students will explore topics including forces, electricity, waves, energy, magnetism, particle physics, astrophysics, and mechanics while developing practical laboratory skills and problem-solving confidence.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Physics examinations, supporting them in achieving excellent academic outcomes and progression to higher education, including competitive STEM pathways.

You will work collaboratively within a successful Science department while benefiting from smaller class sizes, excellent facilities, and a strong focus on personalised learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Physics across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging theoretical and practical lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Physics examinations

  • Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities

  • Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Maintain safe laboratory procedures and environments

  • Contribute to STEM enrichment and departmental development

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Physics at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Physics

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Physics

  • Experience working in an independent school setting

  • Ability to contribute to STEM or extracurricular activities

  • Strong track record of examination success
