The Opportunity

Are you a mathematician who can unlock the beauty of patterns, the logic of calculus, and the real-world power of statistics? Can you inspire students to see Maths not just as a set of rules, but as the universal language of problem-solving?

We are seeking an analytically-minded and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join a flagship department in Leeds. As a major UK hub for finance, digital technology, and data science, Leeds provides an ideal backdrop for a specialist who can link classroom learning to high-level career pathways. We are looking for an educator who can build mathematical confidence in every learner, from foundational numeracy to the rigours of Further Maths.

Core Responsibilities

  • Pedagogical Excellence: Planning and delivering high-impact, mastery-based lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5, including GCSE Mathematics and A-Level Mathematics.

  • Mathematical Fluency: Developing students' ability to recall facts, perform complex procedures, and apply multi-step reasoning to unfamiliar problems.

  • Problem-Solving Leadership: Cultivating a classroom culture where "trial and error" is celebrated and students are encouraged to articulate their mathematical thinking.

  • Curriculum Innovation: Integrating technology (such as GeoGebra or Desmos) into the schemes of work to help students visualise functions and geometric transformations.

  • Exam Mastery: Guiding examination cohorts through the Edexcel, AQA, or OCR specifications, with a clinical focus on exam technique and the "AO2/AO3" reasoning marks.

  • STEM Advocacy: Leading extracurricular initiatives such as the UKMT Junior/Senior Maths Challenges, code-breaking clubs, and university prep for STEP or MAT exams.

Why This School?

  • The Leeds Northern Powerhouse: Work in a city that is a national leader in financial services and healthcare tech, offering incredible scope for industry links and real-world application of statistics.

  • Data-Informed Faculty: Join a collaborative department that uses sophisticated tracking and diagnostic tools to identify and close learning gaps effectively.

  • Advanced Learning Suites: Benefit from dedicated Maths classrooms equipped with interactive displays, a wealth of physical manipulatives, and premium software subscriptions.

  • Professional Growth: Access to specialist CPD through the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), marking training, and pathways toward Head of Maths or Lead Practitioner roles.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualification: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a strong honours degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • Subject Knowledge: Exceptional fluency across the secondary curriculum, with the ability to teach A-Level (Core, Mechanics, and Statistics) to a high standard.

  • Pedagogy: A proven track record of securing strong progress across all ability ranges and a commitment to the "Maths Mastery" approach.

  • Character: A resilient, logical, and encouraging educator who can demystify complex concepts and foster a "can-do" attitude toward the subject.
