A busy secondary school in Leeds is looking to appoint an experienced School Administrator to join its office team. You will be responsible for a broad range of administrative duties, supporting staff and helping the school office operate efficiently each day. The school needs someone who is organised, dependable and able to take responsibility for their own workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Office Administration
    • Provide efficient administrative support to the school.
    • Maintain pupil and school records.
    • Update information on school databases and systems.
    • Prepare letters, reports and other documentation.
    • Manage electronic and paper-based filing.
    • Support staff with day-to-day administrative tasks.
    • Assist with meetings, appointments and general office organisation.
  • Communication & Reception
    • Deal with telephone and email enquiries.
    • Welcome parents, visitors and external professionals.
    • Provide reception cover when required.
    • Communicate professionally with pupils, parents and staff.
    • Handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Data & Monitoring
    • Maintain accurate spreadsheets and trackers.
    • Complete data entry and administrative checks.
    • Assist with information requests and reports.
    • Ensure records are kept up to date.
    • Monitor deadlines and follow up outstanding documentation.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working within a school administration environment.
  • Experience using a school MIS/database.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
  • Strong written English and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A professional and approachable manner.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection.
  • Experience of Arbor, attendance, admissions or working within a secondary school would be advantageous.
