A highly regarded school in Leeds is seeking to appoint an ambitious and talented Head of Music to join its successful Performing Arts faculty. This role is to start in September 2026.

This co-educational school in Leeds has an excellent reputation and a strong community ethos. The successful candidate will lead and develop the Music department, delivering engaging and high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4 (with KS5 teaching available where suitable).

Working closely with senior leaders and the wider Performing Arts team, you will drive standards of teaching and learning, oversee curriculum development, monitor student progress, and contribute to raising attainment and participation in Music across the school.

You will also be expected to promote extracurricular Music opportunities, including choirs, ensembles, concerts, productions, and wider performance events.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A degree in Music or a related subject
  • A recognised teaching qualification with QTS (such as PGCE)
  • Experience teaching Music across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Experience leading or supporting a department, faculty, or key area within Music
  • A strong understanding of curriculum planning and assessment
  • The ability to inspire students of all abilities through practical and academic Music
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for performance, composition, and student achievement
  • The legal right to work in the UK
