A high performing and well-resourced secondary school in Leeds is seeking a skilled and practical Design & Technology Technician to support its successful DT department as soon as possible. The department delivers a broad curriculum across Product Design, Resistant Materials, and engineering-focused projects, supported by modern workshops and CAD/CAM facilities. Practical learning is central to the school’s DT provision, and the technician will play a crucial role in maintaining equipment, preparing materials, and ensuring full compliance with health & safety standards.

The Role

  • Preparing materials, tools, and machinery for practical lessons across KS3–KS5
  • Maintaining and servicing workshop equipment to ensure safe operation
  • Supporting pupils and teachers during complex practical sessions
  • Ensuring compliance with workshop health & safety regulations and risk assessments
  • Managing stock control, ordering materials, and monitoring budgets
  • Assisting with GCSE and A Level NEA preparation
  • Maintaining organised storage systems and safe equipment handling
  • Supporting displays, exhibitions, and project showcases
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of workshop systems and procedures

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
