Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching & Learning
    • Deliver high-quality Business Studies lessons across Key Stage 5 (A Level/BTEC)
    • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that promote deep understanding of business concepts
    • Prepare students for internal and external assessments, ensuring strong outcomes
    • Differentiating teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including high-achieving and supported students
  • Assessment & Progress
    • Monitor, assess, and track student progress using a range of assessment strategies
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student development
    • Use data effectively to identify underperformance and implement targeted interventions
    • Support students with exam techniques and coursework requirements
  • Student Support & Pastoral Care
    • Act as a personal tutor, supporting students’ academic and personal development
    • Build positive relationships with students to promote engagement, attendance, and achievement
    • Contribute to safeguarding and student welfare procedures in line with college policies
  • Curriculum & Department Contribution
    • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Business Studies curriculum
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and resources
    • Participate in departmental meetings, planning, and quality assurance processes
    • Support enrichment activities such as enterprise projects, trips, or guest speaker events

Person Specification
  • Essential
    • A degree in Business, Economics, or a related subject
    • Teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS or equivalent)
    • Experience teaching Business Studies at KS5 (A Level and/or BTEC)
    • Strong subject knowledge and passion for Business education
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills
    • Ability to motivate and inspire post-16 learners
  • Desirable
    • Experience teaching multiple Business-related courses (e.g. A Level and BTEC)
    • Experience in a sixth form or FE college setting
    • Strong track record of student achievement and progress
    • Knowledge of current curriculum developments and assessment frameworks
