An established Independent School in Leeds is seeking a committed and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and administration team from October 2026.
This is a key role within the school, responsible for maintaining accurate attendance records, following up absence and working closely with pupils and families to encourage strong attendance and punctuality. You will also work alongside pastoral and safeguarding colleagues to identify concerns early and ensure the right support is put in place.
The Role
Monitor daily attendance and punctuality across the school
Follow up unexplained and persistent absence with parents and carers
Identify patterns in attendance and flag concerns to the relevant staff
Maintain accurate records and ensure attendance information is kept up to date
Produce attendance reports and use data to support targeted interventions
Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
Work closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams
Support meetings and interventions relating to attendance
Liaise with external agencies where appropriate
About You
We are looking for someone with previous experience in school attendance, pastoral administration or a similar education setting. You will be confident communicating with parents and students and comfortable handling sensitive information professionally.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential. Experience using MIS or attendance systems such as Arbor, SIMS or Bromcom would be advantageous.
