We are currently seeking an experienced, proactive and highly organised Site Manager to join an Outstanding secondary school in Slough. This is a full-time, permanent position beginning January 2026 (or earlier), offering an excellent opportunity for a dedicated premises professional to take a leading role in maintaining a safe, efficient and inspiring school environment.
Job Overview
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day running of the school site, ensuring that buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to an exceptional standard. This role requires strong leadership, excellent practical skills and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload. You will take responsibility for site security, health & safety compliance, maintenance planning, contractor management and the effective deployment of caretaking and cleaning teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Leading the site team, including caretakers and cleaning staff
- Managing all day-to-day site operations and maintenance tasks
- Ensuring full compliance with health & safety, safeguarding and statutory requirements
- Conducting and overseeing risk assessments, safety checks and record-keeping
- Managing contractors and external maintenance services
- Overseeing security systems, alarms, key access and emergency procedures
- Monitoring heating, lighting, ventilation and energy usage
- Planning and coordinating refurbishment, repair and improvement projects
- Ensuring the site is safe, clean, secure and well-presented at all times
- Supporting school events, lettings and operational activities throughout the year
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Site Manager, Premises Manager or similar role (school experience desirable but not essential)
- Strong understanding of health & safety, statutory compliance and safeguarding
- Practical maintenance skills across a range of trades
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
- Ability to manage contractors, budgets and project timelines
- Reliability, professionalism and a positive, solutions-focused approach
