About the Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the daily management of the school premises, ensuring that all buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards. Working closely with the School Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee maintenance operations, contractor management, compliance checks, site security, health and safety procedures, and planned improvement projects across the school campus. This is a varied and hands-on role requiring strong organisational skills, practical knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring the site remains safe, efficient, and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the school site
- Ensure buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to a high standard
- Manage contractors, maintenance schedules, and site projects
- Complete health and safety checks and maintain compliance records
- Monitor security systems, access arrangements, and emergency procedures
- Support facilities planning, procurement, and budget management
- Coordinate site improvements and repairs

- Previous experience in premises, estates, facilities, or site management
- Strong understanding of building maintenance and health and safety requirements
- Experience managing contractors and maintenance programmes
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and respond effectively to challenges
Desirable
- Experience working within an independent school or educational environment
- IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification
- Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities within schools
