Are you a skilled IT Technician who enjoys problem-solving and enabling effective teaching through technology? A forward-looking school in Newham is recruiting an IT Technician to support day-to-day systems and to lead device maintenance from January 2026. The IT Technician will be responsible for desktop and device support, network troubleshooting, routine maintenance and proactive asset management. This IT Technician role in Newham blends hands-on technical tasks with user support and small-scale project work such as device rollouts and classroom upgrades. Induction and handover will be arranged ahead of January 2026 so the IT Technician can begin work confidently in the spring term beginning January 2026.
Role responsibilities
- Deliver first- and second-line technical support across the school, resolving incidents and escalating appropriately.
- Manage imaging, configuration and deployment of laptops, tablets and shared devices; maintain asset inventory.
- Carry out routine network checks, support Wi-Fi troubleshooting and assist external engineers when required.
- Support classroom AV, interactive displays and digital resources while providing user guidance to staff and students.
- Maintain software and security updates, help administer backups and support GDPR-aware data handling.
Person specification
- Experience working in IT support environments, with hands-on device, software and basic networking skills.
- Strong troubleshooting ability, clear communication and a customer-service mindset suitable for a Newham school.
- Able to balance reactive support with planned maintenance and small IT projects across Newham.
- Available to commence January 2026 and to attend pre-term induction and planning before January 2026.
