CORE PURPOSE

We require an ambitious, mathematically rigorous Mathematics Teacher to deliver exceptional numeracy and advanced algebraic instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the opportunity to teach post-16 advanced pathways. Operating within a highly successful mainstream secondary academy currently rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted, the successful candidate will facilitate a mastery-led, deep-thinking curriculum designed to foster abstract problem-solving, logical reasoning, and fluent mathematical calculation, preparing all pupils thoroughly for elite outcomes in terminal GCSE Mathematics public examinations.

THE SCHOOL

Our academy operates as an exceptional centre of academic achievement and high aspirations, consistently recognized for its peerless educational standards, exemplary pupil conduct, and innovative STEM curriculum delivery. The campus features modern, data-equipped mathematics suites, dedicated staff research zones, and an exceptionally collaborative, forward-thinking faculty. Our behaviour management framework is built upon a highly embedded culture of mutual respect, impeccable routines, and active learning engagement, maintaining an entirely silent, highly focused classroom environment that enables pupils to confidently deconstruct complex mathematical theorems.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

  • High-Impact Mastery Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver top-tier mathematics lessons across all attainment pathways, systematically embedding the principles of variation theory, concrete-pictorial-abstract (CPA) modelling, and rigorous algebraic proof.

  • Securing Elite Progress Metrics: Target and eliminate learning misconceptions through highly precise diagnostic questioning, deploying advanced mathematical scaffolding to ensure low-prior-attaining pupils close the gap while stretching high-prior-attaining mathematicians with complex non-routine problems.

  • GCSE Higher & Foundation Training: Guide Year 11 cohorts systematically through the rigorous demands of linear terminal papers, meticulously tracking data to optimize multi-step problem-solving stamina and maximize high-grade boundary retention.

  • Data-Driven Faculty Interventions: Utilize detailed mock examination analytics via central tracking systems to design and deploy highly focused, small-group numeracy and geometry interventions before and after school.

  • Exemplary Pastoral Mentorship: Fulfil full form tutor and academic mentor responsibilities within an established year group structure, managing daily registration, delivering high-quality pastoral units, and maintaining proactive, professional communication with families.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a closely related highly quantitative discipline.

  • Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver outstanding progress metrics and elite high-grade outcomes in terminal public GCSE examinations through highly structured, explicit mathematics pedagogy.

  • Aspirational & Analytical Ethos: An unwavering commitment to maintaining "Outstanding" standards of comprehensive education, possessing the intellectual depth, structural clarity, and data-literacy required to drive exceptional student progress.

REGIONAL CONTEXT

  • East Anglian Maritime Heritage & Tech Hub Links: Based in the historic waterfront town of Ipswich, Suffolk, the school capitalizes on a unique regional identity positioned within the rapidly expanding tech and maritime sectors of East Anglia. The town’s proximity to Adastral Park—the UK's pioneering digital technology and telecommunications research cluster—alongside the University of Suffolk, provides rich, real-world applications for statistics, probability, algorithms, and financial mathematics modules, connecting classroom theory directly to pioneering regional tech engineering and global supply chain logistics.

  • Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus benefits from excellent Suffolk transport infrastructure, offering straightforward road commuting via the A12 and A14 trunk roads, seamlessly linking the school to Bury St Edmunds, Colchester, and Felixstowe. Public transit networks operate efficiently across the borough, utilizing extensive local bus networks alongside Ipswich railway station, which provides frequent, high-speed Greater Anglia rail services connecting the school directly to Norwich, Cambridge, Harwich, and London Liverpool Street.
