A well-established Secondary School in Ipswich is looking to appoint a dependable and hardworking Caretaker to help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. Working alongside the Premises Manager and Site Team, you will be responsible for the daily upkeep of the school buildings and grounds, ensuring that facilities remain safe, secure and fully operational. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the school while maintaining high standards across the site.

This is a well-established 11 to 18 Secondary School that is committed to providing a high-quality education within a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment. Students are encouraged to achieve their best academically while developing confidence, resilience and respect for others.

Responsibilities:
  • Opening and locking the school site.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Undertaking daily site inspections.
  • Ensuring classrooms and communal areas are safe and presentable.
  • Assisting with room layouts for meetings and events.
  • Monitoring heating, lighting and water systems.
  • Reporting larger maintenance issues.
  • Supporting contractors while on site.
  • Maintaining external grounds and pathways.
  • Carrying out basic decorating tasks where required.
  • Monitoring stock of maintenance supplies.
  • Supporting health and safety compliance.
  • Assisting with emergency procedures.
  • Completing maintenance records.
