Maths Teaching Role in an Academy

A high-performing Academy in Ilford is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join its successful Mathematics department from September. This is a full-time role within a well-structured and ambitious school that places a strong emphasis on academic achievement, discipline, and high-quality teaching.

Mathematics is a core subject across the school, with students encouraged to develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and logical reasoning through a carefully sequenced and supportive curriculum.

About the Role

You will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and well-planned lessons that support students of all abilities to make strong progress.

Students will study topics including number, algebra, geometry, ratio, statistics, and probability at GCSE level, with A-Level teaching available depending on experience and departmental needs.

You will support students in developing fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills, while preparing them for GCSE and A-Level examinations and future academic pathways.

Working within a collaborative department, you will contribute to curriculum planning, intervention strategies, and enrichment activities designed to raise attainment and inspire confidence in mathematics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver clear, structured, and engaging lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

  • Support students in developing problem-solving and reasoning skills

  • Assess student progress and provide high-quality feedback

  • Implement intervention and support strategies where required

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Mathematics

  • Experience working within an academy setting

  • Ability to support intervention and exam preparation programmes

  • Strong track record of improving student outcomes
