An established secondary school in Horsham is looking to appoint a motivated Geography Teacher to join its Humanities Department. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to take responsibility for delivering high-quality Geography lessons across the secondary age range.

The successful Geography Teacher will teach students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering lessons covering both physical and human Geography.

You will be expected to develop students' understanding of geographical processes while encouraging them to think critically about issues affecting people and the environment. At GCSE, you will prepare students for examinations through clear teaching of the specification, regular assessment and focused revision where appropriate.

Fieldwork and the use of geographical skills will form an important part of the curriculum. The school is looking for a teacher who can make lessons practical and relevant, using maps, data, case studies and current geographical examples to help students understand the subject.

You will also contribute to departmental planning and assessment, working with colleagues to ensure students make consistent progress throughout KS3 and KS4.

Geography Teacher - Experience and Qualifications

  • Geography Degree

  • QTS or recognised teaching qualification

  • Experience teaching Geography at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4

  • GCSE Geography teaching experience

  • Strong knowledge of physical and human Geography

  • Confidence teaching geographical skills and fieldwork

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management

  • Ability to differentiate effectively

  • Good planning and assessment skills

  • Enthusiasm for the subject and wider school life

Salary

The salary for this Geography Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
