We are recruiting on behalf of a high-performing Grammar School in High Wycombe that is recognised for its academic excellence, ambitious curriculum and positive school culture. The Role
The Religious Studies Teacher will play an important role in delivering an engaging and challenging curriculum, encouraging students to question, analyse and form well-reasoned opinions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging Religious Studies lessons across the relevant Key Stages.
- Teaching topics covering religion, philosophy, ethics and contemporary moral issues.
- Preparing students effectively for GCSE and/or A-Level examinations where required.
- Developing students’ critical thinking, analytical and evaluative skills.
- Creating an inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident discussing different beliefs and perspectives.
- Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support academic development.
- Contributing to curriculum planning, departmental initiatives and wider school activities.
- Supporting enrichment activities, discussion groups and other opportunities to develop students’ interest in Religious Studies.

What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate teaching qualification.
- A degree or relevant qualification in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy or a related subject.
- Experience teaching Religious Studies within a secondary school environment is desirable.
- Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Religious Studies, philosophy and ethics.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to inspire students and encourage thoughtful discussion and independent thinking.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
