We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Hertford. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated practitioner to support pupils at a pivotal stage in Key Stage 1, helping them consolidate their Early Years learning while developing essential skills in literacy, numeracy, and personal development.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering high-quality teaching across all areas of the curriculum. You will plan engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons that inspire curiosity, foster independence, and ensure all pupils make excellent progress. High expectations for achievement, behaviour, and presentation are central to this role, while ensuring all pupils feel supported and included.

You will work closely with colleagues across the school to ensure continuity and progression of learning, particularly supporting pupils as they transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage. Assessment will be used effectively to inform planning, identify next steps, and ensure all pupils reach their potential. This position is suitable for Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners. ECTs will benefit from structured mentoring, induction, and ongoing professional development, while experienced teachers will be encouraged to share good practice and contribute to curriculum development and school improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
