About the Role

Working closely with the School Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, manage contractors, supervise the premises team, coordinate health and safety compliance, and support future estates development projects. You will also be responsible for site security, emergency procedures, and ensuring the school remains a safe and welcoming environment throughout the year.

This role is ideal for an experienced facilities or estates professional who enjoys leading teams and delivering high standards across a busy educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the school site and premises team

  • Coordinate planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs

  • Manage external contractors and monitor service agreements

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and statutory inspections

  • Maintain accurate compliance records and site documentation

  • Oversee site security, access control, and emergency procedures

  • Support estates improvement projects and facilities planning

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the school

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in premises, estates, facilities, or site management

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and building compliance

  • Experience managing contractors and supervising staff

  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to operational demands

Desirable

  • Experience working within a school or educational environment

  • IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification

  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities within schools

  • Experience managing premises budgets and capital improvement projects
