Maths Teacher Role in a Grammar School
A highly successful Grammar School in Hertford is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Maths Teacher to join its outstanding Mathematics department from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students to develop confidence, fluency, and a deeper appreciation of mathematics.
Students follow an ambitious curriculum covering algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, and advanced problem-solving. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations while encouraging them to think logically, reason mathematically, and apply concepts to unfamiliar problems.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through maths clubs, competitions, extension programmes, enrichment activities, and opportunities that encourage students to explore mathematics beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Mathematics across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations
Develop students’ reasoning, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support maths enrichment activities and academic extension programmes
Foster confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for mathematics

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level or Further Mathematics
Experience supporting maths competitions or enrichment activities
Ability to stretch and challenge high-achieving students
A proven track record of delivering strong student outcomes
