Are you an ambitious and inspiring Head of Science ready to lead a dynamic department at one of Oxford’s most successful secondary schools? A high-performing and forward-thinking school in Oxford is seeking an exceptional Head of Science to take on a key leadership role from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent position, ideal for a passionate educator who can combine strategic vision with a hands-on approach to teaching and learning.
The Role
As Head of Science, you will lead a thriving faculty that delivers Biology, Chemistry, and Physics across Key Stages 3–5. You’ll be responsible for shaping curriculum development, mentoring a talented team of teachers, and ensuring consistently high standards of teaching and learning throughout the department. You’ll play an active role in raising achievement across all science disciplines, monitoring progress, and driving innovation in pedagogy and assessment. The role also includes the opportunity to oversee STEM outreach projects, coordinate enrichment activities such as science fairs and Olympiads, and build partnerships with local universities and research organisations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced classroom practitioner or existing Head/Deputy Head of Department who is ready to lead with creativity, integrity, and ambition.
