We are seeking an intellectually curious and highly articulate English Teacher to join one of the most prestigious senior schools in the area. Our English department is the heart of the school’s academic life, known for its commitment to the "Great Books" tradition while maintaining a critical eye on modern literary theory and global perspectives.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Scholarly Teaching: Delivering English Literature and Language to Year 7-11, with a specific focus on A-Level English Literature (Edexcel/OCR). You will lead seminars on literary criticism, from Post-Colonialism to Psychoanalytic theory.
  • Debating & Rhetoric: Overseeing the school’s debating society and rhetoric workshops, coaching students for regional and national public speaking competitions.
  • Bespoke Curriculum: Designing elective modules for the Sixth Form "Academic Enrichment" program on subjects such as Modernist Poetry or Shakespearean Tragedies.
  • Collaborative SCR: Working within a Senior Common Room that values interdisciplinary projects, such as joint Literature and History "Grand Tours."
