Location: Harlow, Essex
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Highly Competitive

Are you a Geography Teacher who enjoys helping students understand the world around them and question why places, people and environments are changing?

An outstanding secondary school in Harlow is looking for an enthusiastic Geography Teacher to join its department. They want someone who can make Geography feel relevant and bring lessons to life through real-world examples, discussion and practical work.

You don't need to know every fact about every place on Earth. What matters is being curious about the world and encouraging students to be curious too.

The Role

  • Teach Geography across KS3–KS5, covering physical and human Geography.

  • Help students develop a strong understanding of places, processes and environments.

  • Teach students how to interpret maps, graphs, data and geographical information.

  • Support GCSE and A-Level students with coursework, fieldwork and examination preparation.

  • Use current events and real-world examples to show students why Geography matters.

  • Develop students' ability to explain geographical patterns and evaluate different viewpoints.

  • Contribute to field trips, Geography clubs, competitions and other enrichment activities.

  • Create a classroom where students feel comfortable asking questions and discussing the issues affecting our world.

The Candidate

We're looking for a Geography specialist who genuinely enjoys the subject and can share that enthusiasm with students.

A degree in Geography or a related subject would be desirable, along with relevant secondary teaching experience. GCSE and A-Level experience would be an advantage.

You'll need good subject knowledge across both physical and human Geography, as well as the ability to explain complex processes clearly.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who can make students look at the world differently and understand the connections between people, places and the environment.
