The Opportunity

We are seeking an intellectually curious Science Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' secondary academy. In this role, you will inspire students to explore the fundamental laws of the natural world, utilising the region’s unique status as a hub for STEM excellence to prepare the next generation of scientists and engineers.

The Department & Scientific Culture

You will join a high-performing Science faculty where academic rigour is balanced with a passion for practical discovery. Core Responsibilities

• Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Triple and Combined Science), with opportunities for A-Level teaching in your specialist discipline.
• Practical Leadership: Designing and executing rigorous laboratory investigations that foster a deep understanding of the scientific method and promote analytical reasoning.
• Conceptual Clarity: Demystifying complex theories—from the intricacies of cellular biology and chemical equilibrium to the fundamental laws of thermodynamics and electromagnetism.
• Data-Driven Success: Utilising the academy’s sophisticated assessment framework to identify and bridge learning gaps, ensuring all students exceed their academic targets.
• STEM Advocacy: Coordinating extra-curricular initiatives, such as the CREST Awards or regional science fairs, that encourage students to see Science as a vehicle for global change.

The Successful Candidate

We are looking for a subject specialist who is passionate about cultivating a culture of inquiry and evidence-based thinking. Requirements include:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
• Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering exceptional learning outcomes at GCSE, with a deep understanding of current AQA or Edexcel assessment objectives.
• Instructional Versatility: The ability to teach across all three science disciplines at KS3, while maintaining expert-level knowledge in your specialism for KS4 and KS5.
• Reflective Practice: A professional committed to continuous growth, eager to participate in collaborative planning and peer-led professional development.
