An established independent school in Guildford, Surrey is looking to appoint an experienced School Business Manager to oversee the school's business and operational functions. This is a varied senior role with responsibility across finance, HR, premises, procurement and compliance, working closely with the senior leadership team to ensure the school operates efficiently and has the right resources in place.
The Role
- Managing budgets, expenditure and financial planning
- Preparing financial reports and management information
- Overseeing procurement and supplier relationships
- Supporting HR administration and recruitment processes
- Managing contracts and service agreements
- Working with premises teams on site management and maintenance
- Monitoring health & safety and statutory compliance
- Supporting audits and financial reporting requirements
- Reviewing processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
- Advising senior leaders on financial and operational matters
- Managing and supporting business support staff
About You
We're looking for someone with strong experience across school business management, finance or operations who can confidently manage a varied workload. Experience within an independent school would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant senior experience from other education or professional environments will also be considered. You'll be organised, commercially aware and comfortable working with senior leaders, staff, suppliers and external partners. Strong financial understanding and excellent attention to detail are essential.
