School Receptionist | Cirencester, Gloucestershire

We are seeking a professional, articulate, and highly organized School Receptionist to join our vibrant secondary school in Cirencester. In this role, you aren’t just answering phones—you are the primary ambassador for our school. You will be the first point of contact for parents, local dignitaries, and prospective students, ensuring that every interaction reflects our values of excellence and community.

The Snapshot

  • Location: Cirencester, Gloucestershire (The "Capital of the Cotswolds")

  • Salary: £23,500 – £26,000 (Pro-rata, dependent on experience)

  • Contract: Permanent, Term-time only (plus 1–2 weeks for INSET/Results)

  • Hours: 08:00 – 16:30, Monday to Friday

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Front-of-House Management: Managing the reception desk with a calm and professional demeanor, even during the "morning rush." You will greet visitors, verify identification in line with safeguarding policies, and manage the digital sign-in system.

  • Communication Hub: Operating a busy switchboard, handling inquiries with discretion and efficiency. You will be responsible for the school’s general email inbox, ensuring that messages reach the correct department or year lead promptly.

  • Student Services: Assisting students who arrive late or need to leave early for appointments. You will be a reassuring presence for students who are unwell and will coordinate with the school nurse or attendance officer as needed.

  • Administrative Support: Providing high-level clerical support to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), which includes drafting newsletters, managing room bookings, and maintaining the school’s central calendar.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, and experience with school databases like SIMS or Arbor is a significant advantage.
