An outstanding, forward-thinking secondary academy in Gloucester is seeking to appoint an engaging Teacher of Psychology and Criminology to join its expanding Social Sciences faculty for a permanent September start.
Job Overview
Psychology and Criminology are among the most popular Sixth Form options at this academy. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction across Key Stage 5 (A-Level Psychology and WJEC Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology), with potential introductory modules at Key Stage 4.
Working alongside experienced Social Science colleagues, you will cover key theoretical areas, including psychopathology, social influence, research methods, crime scenes, justice systems, and criminological theories. This is a full-time, permanent position.
Key Responsibilities

Teach high-impact A-Level Psychology and Level 3 Criminology lessons across Key Stage 5

Develop students' scientific inquiry, empirical data analysis, controlled assessment completion, and evaluative writing skills

Monitor, track, and assess student performance to ensure high attainment in external exams and internal assessments

Mentor Sixth Form pupils preparing university applications for Psychology, Criminology, Law, and Forensic Studies

Lead co-curricular activities, such as Mind & Brain societies, mock trials, and guest speaker events

Serve as a Sixth Form Tutor, delivering pastoral support, academic tracking, and UCAS references

Candidate Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT / QTLS)

Honors degree in Psychology, Criminology, Law, or a closely related social science discipline

Demonstrated track record (or strong potential during training) of securing high A-Level Psychology and/or Level 3 Criminology outcomes

Strong understanding of psychological research methodologies and criminal justice frameworks
