This is a fantastic opportunity for a Geography specialist who enjoys combining strong subject knowledge with engaging lessons that encourage students to question, investigate and think critically.

You will teach Geography across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, preparing students for GCSE and helping them develop a secure understanding of both physical and human Geography. There may also be an opportunity to teach A-Level Geography for a suitably experienced candidate.

You will be responsible for:

• Using maps, data and geographical evidence effectively

• Assessing and marking student work

• Providing constructive feedback

• Tracking student progress

• Identifying gaps in knowledge

• Supporting intervention and revision programmes

You will need to be able to make Geography relevant to students while maintaining the academic depth required at GCSE.

Geography Teacher - Curriculum

The curriculum covers a broad range of physical and human Geography.

At KS3, students will develop their understanding of geographical processes, places, environments and societies while building essential skills such as map reading, data interpretation and geographical enquiry.

At KS4, you will prepare students for GCSE topics across physical and human Geography, alongside fieldwork and geographical skills.

Students will need to understand geographical processes but also apply their knowledge to unfamiliar examples and current issues.

The successful candidate should therefore be confident developing both knowledge and analytical skills.

Geography Teacher - Teaching and Learning

The school wants Geography lessons to encourage curiosity.

Students should be given opportunities to ask questions, analyse evidence and consider different perspectives.

You should be able to use maps, photographs, graphs, statistics, case studies and other geographical resources to make lessons engaging and meaningful.

At GCSE, students will also need regular opportunities to practise examination questions and develop their ability to construct detailed, well-supported answers.

Geography Teacher - Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• A degree in Geography or a related subject

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching Geography at secondary level

• Strong KS3 and KS4 Geography knowledge

• GCSE Geography experience

• KS5 experience desirable

• Strong understanding of physical and human Geography

• Excellent classroom management

• Strong assessment skills

• Ability to differentiate

• Excellent communication

• Good organisational skills

• Ability to motivate students

• Commitment to high academic standards

• Genuine enthusiasm for Geography
