About the School
A forward-thinking secondary school in Exeter is seeking a compassionate and resilient Pastoral Support Assistant to help promote positive behaviour, pupil wellbeing and engagement. The successful candidate will work alongside the pastoral team to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
About the Role
Provide day-to-day pastoral support to pupils across the school.
Help pupils manage behavioural difficulties and resolve conflicts constructively.
Monitor attendance, punctuality and behaviour concerns.
Support reintegration following absence or behavioural incidents.
Maintain accurate records of pastoral interventions and concerns.
Communicate professionally with parents, carers and relevant school staff.
Follow safeguarding procedures and escalte concerns appropriately.
The Ideal Candidate
Previous pastoral, behaviour support or youth work experience is essential.
Experience working within a school or education setting is highly desirable.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Calm, patient and confident managing challenging situations.
An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with the role.
