We are seeking an energetic and inspirational Female PE Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' secondary academy. In this role, you will lead by example, fostering a culture of physical excellence, inclusivity, and competitive spirit, while acting as a pivotal role model for young women in sport across the county.
The Department & Sporting Culture You will join a dynamic Physical Education faculty that prides itself on a diverse curriculum, ranging from traditional team sports to contemporary health and fitness modules. The academy boasts exceptional facilities, including a large sports hall, floodlit all-weather pitches, and a dedicated fitness and dance studio. As an 'Outstanding' setting, we prioritise the link between physical activity and mental wellbeing, ensuring that every student—regardless of ability—finds a pathway to lifelong fitness. We maintain strong partnerships with local Staffordshire sports clubs and national governing bodies, providing students with pathways into elite competition and coaching.
Core Responsibilities Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-energy PE lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE PE and BTEC Sport Level 2/3 for suitably qualified candidates. Inclusive Engagement: Developing strategies to increase female participation in sport, ensuring a supportive and empowering environment for all girls. Coaching & Extra-Curricular: Leading the school’s representative teams in local and regional fixtures, spanning netball, football, athletics, and gymnastics. Theoretical Rigour: Teaching the academic components of the PE curriculum, including anatomy, physiology, and the psychology of sport. Operational Safety: Maintaining an uncompromising approach to health and safety, ensuring all equipment and activities meet the highest standards of risk management.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject specialist who is passionate about the transformative power of sport. Requirements include: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related discipline. Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering high-quality practical and theoretical lessons, with a deep understanding of current GCSE and vocational assessment criteria. Inspirational Leadership: The ability to motivate and inspire female students to engage in competitive sport and lead healthy, active lifestyles. Reflective Practice: A professional committed to continuous growth, eager to contribute to the academy’s wider extra-curricular programme. Due to the requirements of the curriculum and the supervision of female changing facilities, this post is restricted to female applicants under the Equality Act 2010.
