The Role
Working closely with the Head of English, you will play a key role in shaping a curriculum that balances the beauty of English Literature with the functional excellence of English Language. This role carries a £5,000 TLR (Teaching and Learning Responsibility) and offers a clear pathway for those aspiring to Head of Department roles in the near future.
Key Leadership Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Innovation: Take the lead on specific Key Stages (likely KS3 or KS4) to develop diverse, challenging, and engaging schemes of work.
- Pedagogical Leadership: Model "Outstanding" classroom practice and lead departmental CPD sessions to share best practices in literacy and analytical writing.
- Data & Intervention: Lead on the tracking of student progress across your assigned Key Stage, implementing high-impact interventions to ensure no student is left behind.
- Staff Mentoring: Support and coach ECTs and established teachers within the department to foster a culture of continuous professional improvement.

Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related field.
- A proven track record of delivering excellent results at GCSE and A-Level.
- Experience in a position of responsibility (e.g., Lead Teacher, Key Stage Coordinator) is highly desirable.
- A deep passion for English Literature and a commitment to raising literacy standards across the school.
