About the Role

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that foster a lifelong appreciation of literature and language.

Students explore a diverse curriculum featuring classic and contemporary literature, poetry, drama, creative writing, rhetoric, and literary criticism. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and English Language examinations while encouraging independent thought, analytical discussion, and creative expression.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the wider life of the school through literary societies, creative writing clubs, debating, theatre visits, author events, and enrichment activities that promote a vibrant culture of reading and learning.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification

  • Experience teaching English at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level English Literature and/or English Language

  • Experience leading literary enrichment or creative writing initiatives

  • Ability to contribute to debating, theatre, or public speaking activities

  • A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
