Psychology Teacher | Secondary Academy & Sixth Form | Dudley

We are seeking an articulate, analytical, and engaging Psychology Teacher to deliver high-quality Key Stage 4 GCSE Psychology and Key Stage 5 A-Level Psychology instruction. Working within a well-resourced Social Sciences department, the successful candidate will introduce students to psychological theories, cognitive processes, biological mechanisms, and scientific research methodologies, fostering critical thinking, empirical analysis, and academic rigor across the post-16 and upper secondary age range.

Key Tasks & Daily Operations

• Curriculum Delivery: Plan and teach dynamic theoretical and empirical Psychology lessons across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (AQA specification), covering key topics such as memory, attachment, psychopathology, social influence, biopsychology, and research methods.
• Research & Methodological Training: Train students in quantitative and qualitative psychological research methods, statistical analysis, experimental design, and ethical considerations in human and animal research.
• Assessment & Essay Moderation: Systematically mark and evaluate student essays, diagnostic assessments, and mock examinations, offering targeted feedback to refine evaluation techniques and exam performance.
• University & Career Guidance: Support post-16 students preparing UCAS applications for Psychology, Neuroscience, Criminology, and Healthcare degree pathways, offering guidance on personal statements and academic extension.
• Pastoral Responsibilities: Serve as a dedicated Sixth Form or secondary Form Tutor, monitoring pupil academic progress, attendance, and personal wellbeing within the academy's pastoral care system.

Profile Requirements

• Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a closely related social science discipline. Confident Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced secondary practitioners are equally encouraged to apply.
• Experience: Proven track record of teaching Psychology across GCSE and A-Level within a UK mainstream secondary school, academy, or sixth form college setting.
• Skills: Deep subject knowledge across core AQA A-Level Psychology modules, excellent essay feedback and moderation capabilities, strong classroom management, and the ability to explain complex psychological and biological concepts clearly.
