Practical learning is at the heart of this Outstanding secondary school in Islington, and the school is now looking for a capable DT Technician to join its Design & Technology team. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day technical support across the department, helping teachers prepare practical activities while making sure workshops, tools and machinery are maintained to a high standard.
Your Responsibilities
- Workshop preparation: Get classrooms and practical areas ready for lessons, including preparing materials and equipment.
- Technical support: Assist teaching staff with practical demonstrations and student projects.
- Equipment & machinery: Maintain tools, machinery and equipment, reporting faults and arranging repairs where necessary.
- Stock control: Keep track of materials and consumables and ensure the department has the resources it needs.
- Health & safety: Follow school procedures and ensure equipment is used and stored appropriately.
- Workshop organisation: Maintain clean, safe and efficient practical working areas.
What We Need
The ideal candidate will have experience in a technical, workshop or Design & Technology environment. You may currently be working as a DT Technician or have a practical background in areas such as engineering, manufacturing, construction or product design. Most importantly, you’ll be practical, organised and safety-conscious, with the confidence to work independently.
