An Outstanding Secondary School in Warwickshire is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join its thriving Technology department from September. About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons that develop creativity, technical expertise, and critical thinking. Students study a broad curriculum including Product Design, Resistant Materials, engineering principles, sustainable design, materials technology, and modern manufacturing processes. You will guide learners through the complete design process, from research and concept generation to prototyping, manufacture, testing, and evaluation, preparing them for GCSE and A-Level Design & Technology qualifications.

You will also contribute to the department's extensive programme of STEM enrichment, design competitions, employer engagement projects, and extracurricular clubs that encourage students to apply their learning in real-world contexts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Design & Technology examinations
  • Develop students' creativity, technical understanding, and manufacturing skills
  • Maintain excellent health and safety standards within specialist workshops
  • Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
  • Support STEM initiatives, design competitions, and extracurricular activities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
  • Strong subject knowledge in Product Design, Resistant Materials, or Engineering
  • Excellent classroom and workshop management skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Design & Technology
  • Experience using CAD/CAM technologies and digital manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment and employer partnership initiatives
  • A proven track record of delivering outstanding student outcomes
