Receptionist Role in an Independent Secondary School

About the Role
As the school's Receptionist, you will manage the main reception area and act as the first point of contact for everyone arriving at the school. You will answer telephone calls, respond to enquiries, greet visitors, maintain accurate visitor records, and provide administrative support across the school.
The role will also involve managing deliveries and post, assisting with pupil-related enquiries, supporting attendance administration, and helping staff with general office tasks. A calm, professional, and approachable manner is essential, particularly when dealing with parents, students, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the school's reception area and provide a professional welcome
- Answer telephone calls and respond to general enquiries
- Greet and sign in visitors in accordance with safeguarding procedures
- Maintain accurate visitor and reception records
- Deal professionally with parents, pupils, staff, and external visitors
- Manage incoming and outgoing post and deliveries
- Support general administrative and office duties
- Assist with attendance and pupil administration when required
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Ensure the reception area remains organised and welcoming
