Science Teaching Role in a Rural Secondary School
A welcoming and well-regarded Rural Secondary School in Devon is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Science Teacher to join its successful Science department from September. About the Role
You will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and well-planned lessons that inspire students and support strong progress.
The role will involve teaching Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach your specialist science at A-Level depending on your experience and expertise.
You will support students in developing practical laboratory skills, scientific literacy, and analytical thinking while preparing them for GCSE and A-Level examinations. The successful candidate will also contribute to STEM enrichment, intervention strategies, and wider departmental initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities
Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
Monitor progress and implement targeted intervention strategies
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support STEM clubs, science competitions, and wider enrichment activities

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Science
Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment activities
Experience working in a smaller or community-focused school setting
Strong track record of improving student outcomes
