This role would suit an experienced Science Technician, laboratory assistant or science graduate who enjoys practical work and wants to contribute directly to students' learning.

You will work alongside Science teachers to prepare equipment, materials and practical activities across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Your responsibilities will include:

Science Technician - Practical Preparation

A major part of the role will involve ensuring practical lessons are ready before students enter the laboratory.

You will need to read and understand teachers' requirements, gather the necessary equipment and materials and prepare everything safely.

Good forward planning will be essential.

You may be supporting several lessons across different year groups during the same day, so the ability to prioritise will be important.

The successful candidate should be methodical and comfortable working to deadlines.

Science Technician - Biology, Chemistry and Physics

The role will support practical work across the three main Science disciplines.

This may include preparing specimens and equipment for Biology, materials and solutions for Chemistry and apparatus for Physics.

A broad understanding of school-level Science will therefore be advantageous.

You do not necessarily need to be a specialist in every area, but you should be willing to develop your knowledge and follow established procedures carefully.

Science Technician - Health and Safety

Laboratory safety will be a key responsibility.

You will need to follow the school's procedures when preparing experiments, handling materials and storing equipment.
