We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious, and committed Head of Drama to lead the thriving Performing Arts faculty at an Outstanding Ofsted-rated secondary academy in the London Borough of Croydon. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in January 2026.
The successful applicant will be an inspirational and highly effective Drama specialist with the proven ability to lead a core academic and extra-curricular department. This role is a significant opportunity for an existing Head of Department or a highly experienced Second in Department ready to take the reins, coming with a senior Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) payment. The TLR 1b reflects the substantial responsibility for the overall performance, curriculum, staffing, and budget management of the Drama department. You will be responsible for setting the strategic vision, ensuring outstanding attainment in all key stages, and directing a comprehensive programme of school productions and extra-curricular activities.

We Are Looking For:
- A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
- A proven track record of excellent Drama teaching and strong subject knowledge across all Key Stages (including GCSE and A-Level or equivalent).
- Significant leadership experience (e.g., Second in Department or Head of Faculty) with the ability to manage staff, resources, and curriculum development.
- A genuine passion for the subject and the ability to inspire students of all abilities, fostering a culture of creativity and high performance.
- The drive to uphold and contribute to the academy’s Outstanding standards.
Salary and Benefits:
- Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS) for Outer London Teachers (currently £37,870 - £56,154 for 2025/2026).
- Senior Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR 1b) payment, typically ranging from £12,943 to £17,216 (for 2025/2026).
