A successful and well-established secondary school in Croydon is seeking to appoint an experienced Attendance Officer to join its pastoral team on a full-time, permanent basis from October 2026. Attendance plays a vital role in ensuring every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential, and the school is looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference. Working closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams and external agencies, the successful candidate will take ownership of attendance monitoring, helping to identify trends, improve punctuality and support students whose attendance may be causing concern.
The Role
The Attendance Officer will lead the school's day-to-day attendance processes, ensuring accurate record keeping while promoting excellent attendance across the school community. Key responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring daily attendance and following up on unexplained absences
- Identifying attendance trends and producing reports for senior leaders
- Working closely with students and families to improve attendance and punctuality
- Liaising with external agencies where additional support is required
- Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's MIS
- Supporting attendance meetings and preparing relevant documentation
- Promoting a positive culture of attendance throughout the school
- Ensuring attendance procedures remain compliant with statutory guidance

The Successful Candidate

Previous experience within a school setting and familiarity with school MIS systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
