About the Role

The Science Teacher will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable), helping students develop strong scientific knowledge, investigative skills and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Working closely with the Head of Department and wider teaching team, you will contribute to curriculum development, STEM enrichment opportunities and whole-school initiatives that promote curiosity, critical thinking and academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons that engage and challenge students of all abilities
  • Teach Science across KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable), specialising in Biology, Chemistry or Physics
  • Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations and practical assessments
  • Differentiating learning to support SEND, EAL and high-attaining pupils
  • Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and inform teaching
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement in line with school policy
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental meetings and moderation processes
  • Support extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, science fairs or enrichment projects
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress
  • Uphold safeguarding, equality and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry or Physics
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies
  • Ability to motivate, challenge and inspire learners
  • Skilled in using assessment data to raise attainment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Legal right to work in the UK
