About the Role
The Science Teacher will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable), helping students develop strong scientific knowledge, investigative skills and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Working closely with the Head of Department and wider teaching team, you will contribute to curriculum development, STEM enrichment opportunities and whole-school initiatives that promote curiosity, critical thinking and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons that engage and challenge students of all abilities
- Teach Science across KS3-KS4 (KS5 desirable), specialising in Biology, Chemistry or Physics
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations and practical assessments
- Differentiating learning to support SEND, EAL and high-attaining pupils
- Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and inform teaching
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement in line with school policy
- Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental meetings and moderation processes
- Support extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, science fairs or enrichment projects
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress
- Uphold safeguarding, equality and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry or Physics
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies
- Ability to motivate, challenge and inspire learners
- Skilled in using assessment data to raise attainment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Legal right to work in the UK
