School Caretaker

A thriving Primary School in Coventry is seeking a professional and highly organised School Caretaker to join their experienced premises and operations team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-structured and supportive school environment where site staff play an essential role in the day-to-day running of the school.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day facilities and maintenance support across the primary site and assist the site manager, senior leaders, and wider support teams. Responsibilities will include carrying out routine building maintenance, updating school compliance records, conducting daily health and safety site walks, managing waste disposal, and assisting with the locking/unlocking of the site, porterage tasks, and emergency cleaning requests.

You will also support communication with external maintenance contractors and school visitors while ensuring that information is handled professionally and safely at all times. Strong organisational skills are essential, as the role requires the ability to prioritise reactive maintenance tasks effectively within a busy school environment.

The school is looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, and able to guide site procedures safely and efficiently. Good practical DIY skills, general IT competence for logging maintenance requests, and confidence operating hand tools are important, alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing school community where site staff are highly valued and staff wellbeing and professional training are prioritised.
