Are you a passionate Music Teacher who wants to inspire students to develop their musical abilities and discover the enjoyment of creating, performing and understanding music? Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and committed teacher to join a school in Colchester, where the successful candidate will help students build confidence, develop practical skills and appreciate music in its many forms.

This position offers the opportunity to teach Music across the relevant key stages, delivering lessons that combine theoretical knowledge with practical participation. You will help students develop their understanding of musical elements, including rhythm, melody, harmony, texture, structure and dynamics, while encouraging them to listen critically and explore different genres and traditions.

The successful candidate will recognise that students enter the classroom with different levels of musical experience. You will therefore need to create inclusive lessons that support beginners while providing appropriate challenges for students who already have experience of singing, playing instruments or composing music.

Through carefully planned activities, you will encourage students to work collaboratively, practise consistently and develop confidence in expressing themselves through music. You will also help learners understand how musical ideas can be developed, evaluated and communicated through performance and composition.

School Information

Based in Colchester, the school aims to provide students with a broad educational experience that encourages academic achievement, creativity and personal development. Music contributes to this aim by giving students opportunities to collaborate, develop discipline and express ideas in ways that extend beyond traditional written work.

The successful teacher will help students appreciate music from a range of cultures, periods and styles while developing their practical and analytical skills. Lessons may include listening exercises, ensemble work, vocal activities, instrumental performance, composition and music theory, depending on the curriculum and students' needs.

The school values teachers who are enthusiastic about their subject, well organised and committed to providing positive learning experiences. The successful applicant will work with colleagues to maintain consistent standards and encourage students to take pride in their progress.
