The Headteacher of this academically outstanding Boys’ Grammar School in Colchester is looking to appoint a high-calibre Design & Technology Teacher to join a thriving and forward-thinking DT department from January. Design & Technology plays a key role in the school’s curriculum, supporting analytical thinking, innovation, and the practical application of STEM knowledge.

This role offers a rare opportunity to teach DT in a selective academic environment where students are highly motivated, behaviour is exemplary, and teachers are able to focus on challenge, depth, and quality rather than behaviour management. The department is well resourced, highly structured, and academically ambitious. You will teach DT across KS3 and KS4, with GCSE delivery forming a central part of the timetable. The department values clear design methodology, technical accuracy, and disciplined workshop practice. Teachers are encouraged to develop students’ independence, resilience, and problem-solving skills through demanding and purposeful projects.
