About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, creative, and safety-conscious Design & Technology (DT) Technician to support our busy and thriving D&T department in Buckinghamshire.
You will be instrumental in preparing materials, maintaining workshop tools and machinery, and ensuring students can bring their design ideas to life in a safe, inspiring environment.
Key Responsibilities

Workshop Preparation: Prepare timber, metals, plastics, and other materials using bandsaws, pillar drills, lathes, and hand tools for student practical lessons.

Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect, clean, calibrate, and service workshop machinery and hand tools to ensure compliance with strict safety standards.

Health & Safety: Maintain a clean and hazard-free workshop environment, enforce PPE protocols, and assist with risk assessments and COSHH logs.

Resource Management: Monitor stock levels of raw materials and hardware, manage tool inventories, and coordinate equipment ordering.

Classroom Support: Assist teachers during lessons by guiding students on the safe and effective use of machinery, CAD/CAM equipment, and 3D printers.
Requirements & Qualifications

Experience: Practical background working with hand/power tools, machinery, or CAD/CAM equipment in an industrial, carpentry, or school workshop setting.

Skills: Strong practical/making skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive attitude toward workshop organization.

Safety Awareness: A solid understanding of health and safety regulations within a workshop environment (e.g., CLEAPSS guidelines or similar).

Education: Relevant qualifications in Design & Technology, Engineering, Product Design, or a related trade/craft discipline.
