About the School

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and highly organised Premises Manager to join our welcoming co-educational primary school in Gloucestershire.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard and meet all relevant health, safety and compliance requirements.

The Role

As Premises Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management, maintenance and security of the school site. You will work closely with the Headteacher and wider school team to ensure that the premises are safe, functional and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the school buildings, grounds and facilities.

  • Carrying out regular site inspections and identifying maintenance or health and safety issues.

  • Coordinating contractors and external suppliers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

  • Supporting the school with statutory compliance, risk assessments, fire safety and other health and safety requirements.

  • Managing site security, including opening and closing the school as required.

  • Monitoring and maintaining heating, lighting, plumbing and other essential services.

  • Maintaining accurate records relating to premises, inspections, servicing and repairs.

  • Managing premises-related budgets and obtaining quotations where appropriate.

  • Ensuring the school grounds are safe, tidy and well presented.

  • Responding promptly to emergencies, faults and urgent maintenance issues.

  • Supporting school events and activities, including occasional work outside normal school hours.

  • Working collaboratively with staff, governors, contractors and other stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Practical, proactive and able to take ownership of their responsibilities.

  • Highly organised, dependable and able to prioritise effectively.

  • Confident carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs.

  • Knowledgeable about health and safety within a school or similar environment.

  • Able to manage contractors and external service providers effectively.

  • Comfortable working independently while also being a valued member of the school team.

  • Friendly, approachable and committed to creating a positive environment for children.

  • Flexible and willing to respond to the changing needs of a busy primary school.

Previous experience of working in a school, educational setting or similar premises environment would be advantageous, although we will consider candidates with relevant facilities or property management experience.
